The name "Pool of Tears" probably refers to the pool of tears from players as they scratch their eyes out from pure frustration over this quest. Don't let the screenshots fool you, the artifacts are small and harder to find than a clean spot on a troll.

Another bad part of this quest is that alot of the spawns of the thing will spawn inside of the walls so you cant reach them.

There are quite a few of these artifacts around the shoreline and on the water shelf before it drops into the deepest part of the lake.

The artifacts are small and can be either bowls or something resembling a pyramid.

Most of the artifacts are around the water, and are small bowls and pyramids of skulls, see my screenshot if you want to know what I mean.

Most can be found at the shallow parts of the water, I found majority of mine around the shallow areas, around 67,63 etc.

Stick with it and watch out for somnos, 62 elite dragon immune to fear, takes 5 to kill. Part of Ony quest chain =(

EDIT: Get a lock for unlimited breathing buff (10 mins). It will help a BUNCH.

I followed the advice above I swept the shore and got 2, I swam round the shelf before it got deep and got 4 more, then I swam around and dived as I saw them, I don't know what everyone is talking about I thought they were quite easy to spot and had no issues, 15 minutes tops, easy xp.

Hydrocane FTW

You can easily get the hydrocane by doing speed runs of Viscous Fallout, the first boss of Gnomer. Killed him once, i won roll on Acidic Walkers, second time i won roll on Hydrocane, and that's about all he's got for a priest (although if you're going to be there long enough, might as well run through thermaplugg anyway b/c he also has good drops.)

there is really nothing to this quest but time. jump in the water around the temple and scan the bottom the artifacs stand out pretty well but it is time comsuming

First look around the entire pool by all the eygiptian looking walls and stones. Then look around the top ring of the pool thats close to the surface then look at the bottom of the pool. If you dont have all 10 rinse and repeat. I got all mine in 15 mins.

If you die nearby, remeber to take a look in the pool. Since the colors are black/white, its very easy to spot the artifacts (and evrything else), because they are black. Just swim around in the water and mark the pos.

This one is great for druids. I just went Aquatic Form and scurried the sand for the artifacts, simply ignoring the fish that sometimes attack (I was level 42 and took very little damage from them).

The artifacts can be really small and one was even half inside one of the broken walls, so it's best to use first person view and just swim as close to the bottom of the water as you can.

this is probably the "most bang for your buck" quest, if there ever was one. did it with a 42 druid took me 5 min, never got attacked once. easiest 1.2g i ever made.

As was said earlier, this quest is a real cakewalk for druids. I put off doing this quest for a couple-three levels because I was intimidated by the "Elite" flag on it... finally I picked it up because it was on the way to a couple of other quests ("Threat from the Sea", "Fresh Meat") and it's turned out to be about the easiest quest ever, outside the starting areas.

If you're going as a druid, take aquatic form and swim around the bottom of the pool. On rare occasions a fish may aggro you, but they're easy to take on and you should never pull more than one at a time (you'd almost have to try to get multiple fish on you). Swim in circles around the temple until you get all ten.

Oh, and the pool is the big area in the middle of the map that takes up almost the entire center of it. ;-)

Very easy quest. Did this as a 47 'Lock.

Just swimmed around the building under water. The fish are only lvl 39 - easy to kill.

Cords: The Building is 69,54. Swim around it. :)

When you got tired of swimming, just walk around the shore of the "island" around the temple and look on the ground. I found 3 this way, then dive in again to find more under water. Really easy with seal form. :>)
If you get attacked by the fishies under water, just go on the ledge of the temple, they can't follow you there! Wait until leaving combat and start looking again. I kill a couple of fishes, no drop at all, so it was not worth killing for me.

Whatever people say above, this is taking forever. I've scoured every inch of the pool, and found only 4 so far. When they respawn, I can't take the ones I've already collected. 15 minutes in and not even half done.

EDIT - apparently the respawns WILL let you take them, but only if you wait a few minutes. You can see them, but not take them, until maybe 5 minutes pass, then you can take them. Stupid.

ok, the quest really is pretty easy, you head to the pool (its big, you can't miss it) and theres two layers, the bottom layer (sea bed), and the top layer... the top layer is just under the water --- you can barely swim under it... ive heard that there's some artifacts ON the land, but i didnt find any, nor did i really look. Once you loot the items, you can loot them again, after like 5 min or so. i found ONE that was invisible, lol i had to track it down, but find a couple, go kill some of those dragon-lizard idiots for the heck of it, then like 7 min. later, go back and re-loot ur stuff... there it is, pretty easy... one free gold coming right up...

this was the least annoying of all the annoying quests. i swam around the pool and got them all, didnt take too long. everything looks like dirt down there though so its easy to miss stuff. i ran my mouse pointer over stuff till i got a gear that wasnt a mossy lockbox

Don't let the 43 elite mobs walking around the lake scare you. This quest was easy. All you need to do is sneak past the elite mobs and jump into the lake. From there it is just a matter of swimming around the bottom to pick up pots. There are no mobs in the lake to worry about.

If you just swim around in the shallow parts of the lake near the shore... you can pick up ten easy without fear of drowning, and totally avoid any mobs.

why a pain... because the artifacts sometimes dissapear into the ground... they are almost impossible to find!

Like the others you pick up at the same time, this is easy, quick(ish) and very worth it.

The items are very hard to spot, but they are quite abundant, the only gotcha is your breath, but the lake isnt deep enough for it to be a problem.

Blacksmiths...the boxes wont budge with Golden keys, i assume they need truesilver or greater.

Word of advice, pick up everything then find the watcher, he wants wood from the shore that is near this quest, you can do a big circle of the zone and get everything done with no backtracking.

An easy quest,most artifacts are on the bottom of the lake and a few are around on the surface.Good quest for shamans as they can breathe under water and definatly handy to bring a rogue as well as there are quite a few mossy foot lockers on the bottom of the lake...

I did this quest solo at lvl 39: Artifacts were mostly in the shallows of the beach and just a couple at the bottom of the lake.

65,51 65,47 67,62 68,43 70,64 73,42 74,48 75,60 76,63 76,54 are the locations where the artifacts were found and I only agro'ed one frenzied fish lvl 40 so not a bad quest at all.

Very easy quest for a lvl 39 rogue just use the Locs provide on site, only a few fish in water had only one aggro me during quest. Thanks to all that provided Locs

did it with a 41 UD rogue, 1 lap around the pool and i got all the quest items and my lockpick skill went up 17 skill points. rogues can u say "mossy footlockers" :D i belive u need 175lp skill to open these boxes, im gonna go take a couple more laps :)

The same named quest is given to Alliance races by Holaaru in the Harborage (25, 32), which was a foreshadowing of the Exodar and Draenel that we've come to know and love.

I had the Hydrocane from Gnomergan, so this was a piece of cake. I harvested a few from the shore, where you can find them mostly around the wreckjed pieces of architecture, and most on the lake bottom. Even got a few points in Staff from fighting the Sawfin Frenzies.

The artifacts look like urns or bricks. This is a "Myst" category quest; I call them that because it mostly involves mousing around and looking for the cursor to change. It shouldn't be any surprise if you've done, say, Poor Old Blanchy or similar.

The reward, 1g20s and 350 Exodar reputation (before Human bonus), is decent for a few minutes looking through murky green water. I was in the swamp anyway on the horrid Mazen's Behest quest, the less said about which the better.

the dragons hit hard, and watch out for somnus, a high level elite flying dragon that wanders the area. i say "high level" because i'm 41, and i couldn't see his level. yikes.

Further note, the bottom of the lake is not the only place that you will find the artifacts - you will also find some along the shoreline around the lake. Note that the artifacts that are in the lake are not always easy to see from a distance so you'll have to dive down and swim around. watch your air supply, cause its a pretty deep dive.
Lastly, you'll see the temple in the center and steps that you can climb, but it is really a waste of time to venture inside the temple as their are no artifacts inside and the nasties that I spotted when I did venture inside were elite.

This quest first appeared in 2.0 and can be picked up in the swamp from Holaaru at 25,31.

You'll find the items around the rim and in the water, just like the quest said... Surprised? the water is murky green and the half-buried urns, idols and sacks are not easy to spot. Those along the rim the are not much easier. Just a yard or two from the water. Look for anything that aint dirt or plants.

one small anomaly though... the urns and sacks do not despawn when harvested and can only be picked up by one person at a time so dont expect to be able to interact with every one you find...

As of the patch the dragonlkin that surround the pool are no longer elite (bar one captain) and also drop Speck of Dream Dust so you can combine it with:

This quest is pretty easy to do.

The small artifacts spawn along the shore, and in the water, of the lake surrounding Sunken Temple. No fighting required.

What to do: Simply around the lake a few times looking down while zoomed out.
The artifacts are small and in the shape of plates and stone heads.
An alternative strategy can be to simply swim along the drop off point between the shore and the deeper part of the lake. There the artifacts will stand out more since there is no vegetation to conceal them.

Warning: There is a high level elite dragon that patrols the area, Somnus, so keep an eye out.

For those of you coming from Questie or similar addons, the spawn points indicated on your map don't necessarily correspond 100% to the artifacts you'll be able to find. You have to swim around the lake, and run around the edges, and strain your eyes as you look for these things. As another comment by uoyho points out, lower your ground clutter settings to minimum in graphics.

Took me 16 minutes to find all the 10 artifacts when I was ALONE there. I can't imagine on high populated servers during peak hours... Ps: Used and Elixir of Water Breathing so I don't have to go surface all the time.

Just did this quest, and it was extremely frustrating. I used Questie to figure out where the locations were. Some notes about this quest:

It helps to turn down both Environment Detail and Ground Clutter to 1 (you can find both of these together in the System -> Graphics menu)
Some of the artifacts are inside the temple. Ignore these if you are solo (you can tell they are in the temple because you will switch areas from the Swamp of Sorrows to the Temple of Atal'Hakkar), as there are elite enemies inside the temple
Like all gather quests, the artifacts themselves are not shareable. So, I recommend you do this one solo.
There are artifacts outside the temple. A few are underwater, and a few are on the shoreline. For some of the ones on the shoreline, Questie is incorrect and will show the artifact being there when it's not.
The ones near the shoreline and underwater outside the temple do not have any elite enemies near them. So even though the quest is elite, as long as you stay outside the temple you should be able to easily solo this around level 38-43 (just be able to kill the odd dragonscale that you aggro)

This quest really shouldn't be marked as "(Elite)" any more.

In ages past, the dragonkin that patrolled the area were, indeed, Elites. But as of ... what was it? 1.11? 1.12? ... these dragonkin aren't elite any more, and are easily soloable like any other world-mob of the same level.

In fact, you don't even have to fight them. The artifacts are strewn around the area, including under water, and are usually a safe distance from the Wyrmkin and Scalebane mobs.

Description

The Warchief sent us to investigate strange happenings at The Temple of Atal'Hakkar.

The Atal'ai trolls are a tribe of dark casters, known for practicing forbidden magic. You can imagine how astonished we were when we arrived here to discover the temple had been sunk.

The green dragons now guard the site, claiming to be protectors of Azeroth.

We need to discover what happened. Explore around the Pool of Tears and gather Atal'ai artifacts. From those I can begin to piece together this puzzle.
