This ray is fun to use as it works on low level bosses and players, but there are much better trinkets around and mine has been eating dust in the bank for months. Fun trinket to play around with for a small time though.

Really fun trinket for pvp or for pve.
Nothing is as fun as fighting a shunken elf.
The loss of 250 attack power can hurt rogues, even if its just a slight loss.
If it back fires, your group either srhinks, losing attack power, or they grow... gaining attack power.

Warning: be careful when you use this in PvE. When it works your party will love you, but a badly timed misfire really makes them unhappy, especially when battling a boss. This happened to me in Ulda - the entire party shrunk in size & attack power and it was an instant wipe.

However, I still use this a lot, especially if the group is about to wipe or if I am trying to solo bigger or more mobs than I should as a mage.

So far this thing has done a few things:
=shrink the enemy, lowering their attack power
=make myself and my party members bigger, increasing attack power (went from 450ish to 800)
=shrink myself, lowering my attack power

Lots of fun, whether it works or not

This item rocks... you can say what you want.

It can add a fun factor but can also be REALLY benefitial.

First, it is surposed to shrink the target reducing its attack power by 250. Really great for Melee Mobs...

It does however malfunction... and this quite often!

BUT that said it has 2 results when it malfunctions. It can either decrease the size of the whole party, lowering the attack power by 250 or (and this happens more often) cause grow on the party, not only making you much bigger than your mob, but increasing everyones attack power by 250!

I love it!

There's a lot of confusion about this currently. There are basically four types of items that can be made by engineers:

BoE items that can be used by any engineer and traded.
BoP items that can be crafted by a specific specialization, but used by any engineer
Items that require a specific specialization to use.
BoP items that can be crafted by an engineer, but can be used even after engineering is dropped

Gnomish Engineering allows you to craft these items:

If your intent is to switch to Goblin after crafting all the goodies (by dropping and re-leveling Engineering), you should probably craft all of these items, but you must craft Gnomish Goggles, Gnomish Battle Chicken, Gnomish Death Ray, and Lil' Smoky (these are Bind on Pickup) or you will lose access to these items permanently (unless you drop and re-level Gnomish Engineering again.)

Ultrasafe Transporter: Gadgetzan and World Enlarger cannot be used by a non-gnomish engineer, so you can skip crafting these if you're planning on switching.

NOTE: Gnomish Death Ray doesn't require Engineering to use, so technically, you could level Engineering to craft this item, and drop it and still be able to use it.

NOTE: I recommend you go Gnomish first because most items crafted by Goblin are consumable, whereas Gnomish is toys and trinkets that can be used after you switch. If you do Goblin first, you'll not be able to craft some of the most powerful explosives in the game for yourself and need to buy them regularly if you want to use them.

Dimensional Ripper - Everlook cannot be used by a non-goblin engineer, so you can skip crafting these if you're planning on switching.

NOTE: Goblin Dragon Gun doesn't require Engineering to use, so technically, you could level Engineering to craft this item, and drop it and still be able to use it.
