Another great talent for Shadowpriests. Just remember that it's good "additional" healing and can never replace a good Heal or Flash Heal.

hum it seems that the amount of healing points healed with vampiric embrace is not modified by those items that give healing bonuses ( like the full devout set bounus) .... its true?

doesn't affect wands...

affects items with +23 shadow damage with spells etc....

also works with undead priests

never never ever say that they should nerf priests, they are theone class that everyody loves, and probably will be saving your ass in PVP and PVE. but about this sopell, from the way i read it, YES it does heal you, but NO wands dont work. its says shadowspells, not just dmg, or things like blackout would proc from wands, and fast shadow wands would own witha 10% chance to stun... still this spell kicks ass nonetheless.

in the new patch 1.10 there is an improved vampiric embrace to where at lvl 32 you can have 30% damage healed to you and your party

Does it stack with other priest's Vampiric embrace? i.e. can two or three shadow priests cast it on the same mob and all be healing the group? If so I would think this might start to really add up.

like the saying "we saved your ass in WW2" well priests have the right to say "we save your asses everyday of the week" sure i admit the undead priest needs to have its power taken down but the whole point if a shadow priest is power and a really cool aura in shadow form

Yes, it does heal you. Seeing as you are a member of your own party... And that would be retarded if it only healed other party members, cuz what if you're not IN a party? It would be utterly useless for soloing, and I don't think Blizz would be that stupid.

I have a 60 shadowpriest, ive been a shadowpriest ever since i hit 60. heres the lowdown.

1. wands dont heal you even if they are shadow damage. but you should definatley use a shadow wand because of shadow weaving which improves all shadow damage dealt to the enemy.
2. This spell, even though it is a "healing effect" is not improved by +healing spell gear or plus damage/healing gear. I was a little annoyed when i figured this out but I have tested it and it gives you 30% of the shadow damage you do only. no more. so if you want to improve your healing ability just stock up on +shadow damage gear. I came to terms with this because i own everything and their moms already and if i could heal any better i would be invincible.
3. multiple priests can use this skill but they each have to cast their own vampiric embrace on the target. and yes it is incredible. the only thing is that shadow weaving cant be stacked double. just gets to 5procs faster.
4. this spell heals you and your party for 30% of your shadowspell damage. If you spec right you can be a really good backup healer in instances. the only problem is it only heals the people that are directly in your party and not in the raid group. max shadow affinity and watch your aggro. if you run into a lot of aggro problems you can spec so that your threat is really small but you have to put some into disciplin.
5. devouring plague is a great skill but you should only use it in a one on one situation because it uses so much mana. its ridiculous. if they have vampiric embrace on them with this you get 130% of the damage it causes healed to you.

*Shadow damage done by SPELLS ONLY! no wands!
*The damage must be shadow, not the spell so spells like mana burn feedback would work even though they're discipline.
*Stacks with devouring plague (duh).
*Can be resisted easily even with poor SR.
*Counts as a curse so useless against mages or druids.
*DoT+VE on multiple mobs works great but the 10 seconds cooldown can be frustrating.

I do dislike the fact that this spell doesn't work with want damage, I wish I had checked this thread before I went out and tried it since it was a constant question on here too. I heard on the mana burn thread that it does work with mana burn so I guess I'll have to test it for my self. Just as a warning, if you get a mod like cosmos and a full party this spell can literally block the center or your entire screen. I could see the healing effects on all all party members from SW+MF so much that I couldn't see the guy I was attacking.

As a shadow priest, I can say it is super frustrating trying to solo level a squishie priest. I usually learn where the graveyards are in each area before I've seen much of the rest of it. If you nerf Shadow priests, you'll quickly lose your healers, because this class is hard enuf to level with. Make it harder, and no one would play them.

It's more than misleading to put such a high level spell (which you get from a talent) at Level _1_..........

Vampiric Embrace is a shadow talent. Not there, my foot. Just check the shadow line for yourself. You need 20 points in shadow talents to get it though, which puts it a long way from Level 1.

Devouring Plague is an Undead race specfic spell, but Vamp. Embrace isn't.

When you get the talentwindow.,Check shadow.
And there you find a nice icon saying its a TALENT!

There are many talents that you can learn only rank 2 and up from a trainer(so any rank 2 you cant learn, check the talentwindow).
IE Mage:pyroblastthingy.

Here's my cycle:

Vamp Emb Pull, Mind Blast, Mind Flay, SW:P, Shield, Mind Blast, Mind Flay (or Mana Burn if caster), Mind Flay, Mind Blast, Mind Flay, Mind Flay, Mind Bl... you get the picture.

In a group of five I can keep a group attacking up to 3 even levels at top health until I run out of mana, which is usually when I wand the last one to death.

For the MB/MF/MF routine you need at least 3 (4 is better) in the Improved Mind Blast Talent.

hmmm... a quite decent healing spell for shadow priests it seems... since they can't cast normal heal spells this can make some things good about the fact shadow priests can't heal, while being in shadow form

as much i hate to say it to those who think it not in the game it is ,but it's a talnet as stated from another poster ,

i just cleaned my preist talnet , sense to me it makes sense for her to do shadow till 42 .

she now 33 i hope to have shadowform by 40 . then it's a new thing to think about at 42 with greater heal.

Which puts it a heck of a long way away from level 1.

This spell should be reclassified as level 30, the lowest level you can get it in the talent tree.

As far as how useful it is... I like this spell. I tend to cast Shadow Word: Pain on almost every target that we pull. Assuming there's 3 mobs, all with SW:P and Vampiric Embrace on them, that's about 500 points of healing to everyone in the party for only 120 mana above what I'd normally spend anyway.

I figured that this way: At level 42, my SW:P does 85 damage per 3 second. Each mob is killed in about 15 seconds. So my SW:P does about 400 damage to the first mob, about 800 to the second, and about 1200 to the third (because I renew it when it drops). Since all 3 of those mobs have VE on them, that means 1/5 of that damage becomes healing for my party... 2400/5 = just under 500.

I do the SW:P attacks anyway, because they're cheap for the damage they do, and draw very little aggro. The only extra mana I'm spending to get this 2500 points of healing for the party is the 120 mana for VE on each mob. Even for a single pull (SW:P does 400 damage in the ~15 seconds it takes for the mob to die) that's 80 health to everyone for an mere 40 mana. Still worth it. The bigger the battle, the more efficient it becomes, which is when I need efficiency the most.

The only time it may not be worth it is if I'm low on mana, and I can't afford to spend it on SW:P. It's also less useful if the tank is very good at holding aggro, and only the tank needs the health... but I've found that in a 5 person group, everyone takes a little damage from AOE, short aggro, etc, and VE keeps them nice and healthy.

My take on VE is that it helps a Shadowspec priest be a little more mana efficient at healing on the occasions when they do group. Over the course of a battle, it's equivalent to a free Prayer.
