For Prot Paladins, until they have hit the "unhittable" 102.4% these will be a downgrade over the rep boots. If you can keep 102.4% block+miss+parry+dodge, it is advisable to then aim for more dodge instead of block, since 100% damage reduction is better than 30-51%. If you get over the cap and can switch to these without going under the 102.4%, these will be an easy to find, easy to replace set of equipment.

tl;dr They'll be useful later on.

You also will lose a little parry rating from the loss of 6 strength when using the Pyrelord Greaves, but they should still come out marginally better.

Just did a little test on my warrior, to see which boots was better. (both boots enchanted with lavawalker, and +67 mastery gem)

With Gryphon Rider's Boots(Reforged parry->dodge so 84 parry/55 dodge):
12.72% Dodge
13.76% Parry
56.13% Block
=
82.61%

With Pyrelord Greaves(Reforged parry->mastery so 110 parry/72 mastery):
13.14% Dodge
13.86% Parry
55.40% Block
=
82.4%

So basically the Wildhammer boots gives 0.21% more dodge/parry/block for me, while pyrelord greaves gives +42 armor(0.03% additional reduction on character pane) and 22 stamina.

Which boots I'm gonna use ? I haven't decided yet, it's such a close call. But I am leaning towards the Wildhammer ones.

When you get down to tenths of percentage this and tenths of percentage that, I think you have entered over-the-top territory. And all of this you say without regard to human error that your equipment cannot mitigate (one could have pressed this button .10 percent faster and done .10 percent more damage .10 second faster, blah blah blah). Some people really know how to analyze something to death and take the fun out of what is supposed to be a game. I think this could all be considered what they used to call a pissing contest.
