The Lunar Idol only seems to drop from the Grellkin, it does not seem to drop from the Grell.

Once you've got the Idol, equip it in your Relic slot and then kill six mobs while they are effected by your Moonfire DOT. You will get a buff that counts up to six, once you get six, you can use the Idol and will receive the Fury of Stormrage rune.

In any case anyone else has this problem.

I forgot about this quest and rune (and it would have made levelling way easier!). I already had the living seed rune and level 10 when I went back to the starting zone to finish it after I noticed the quest in the log. However, I couldn't finish the quest - I never seemed to get the Inspired buff that you need 6 of. Tried everything: logging out, dropping quest, deleting idol, no addons, etc. repeatedly. This is just with killing mobs in the starter zone with Moonfire and nothing else. Gave up and sent Blizz a ticket (received the advice: very busy queues please try later). Logged out overnight.

Next morning I tried the quest again, but against level 5+ mobs in Dolanaar. Got the 6 inspired buffs straight away and completed quest.

So my guess is that if you are too high in level/damage somehow killing low-level mobs doesn't register to trigger the inspired buff. Or something got fixed overnight.

Night Elf Druid – Alliance

How to learn Fury of Stormrage:

At lvl 4+ go to a druid class trainer and start Relics of the Kaldorei quest.
Go kill grellkin mobs until you get Lunar Idol drop and then equip it.
Now kill any 6 mobs while they affected by the moonfire.
As you done click the Lunar Idol to learn the rune.

Don't click on the idol if your bags are full. Mine disappeared and I have not been able to get it to drop again despite abandoning and restarting the quest and killing like 50 grellkin.

Once your inspiration is full, you have to 'use' the item while it is equipped in your relic slot.

If you attempt to unequip it before use the inspiration will fade and you have to re-equip the relic and fill the inspiration from scratch again.

Just a little update, if you forget to do this quest (like i did) and i went back and done this at level 14, you have to kill a mob that yields experience, not a grey mob for the inspiration buff to be granted.

It took me more than six kills to activate the rune generator but another player in the area had pointed that out to me ahead of time, so fortunately it wasn't an unpleasant surprise. In my case it was no more than nine. He said it took him eight, so be prepared to keep going after six. You'll get there.

Relics of the Kaldorei

Recover the relic from the grellkin in Shadowglen. Follow the relic's guidance to learn a new ability, then report back to Mardant Strongoak.

Description

The kaldorei are an ancient people, and our lost relics can be found across Azeroth. Through these relics, the spirits can teach you ways to strengthen your connection to the Dream. The grellkin have stolen one such relic. Slay them and retrieve the relic, then follow its guidance to learn a new combat technique. Return to me when you have done this.
